Visibility/Location: Midway of Madness Haunted Attraction is located in the Champaign County Fairgrounds. Easy to find if you know the area. If you have GPS, it will lead you right to the main entrance of the fairgrounds.
Once you get to the main gate there is a sign and you can see a flashing strobe. Once you get to the strobe light they will assist with parking. If you have been there in the past the parking is a little different because they are building a new parking lot near the attraction.
There is plenty of parking located near the event.
Wait Entertainment: Walking to the event, you passed two local vendor food trucks where you could purchase food and beverages. Tickets are purchase at a tent that looks like it belongs in a circus.. Once you bought tickets you could enter the queue line.
The only wait entertainment that we saw was 2 small twin clowns that were working the crowd. Even though they seem young they work the crowd very well, just by walking around and staring at you.
Admission Price: $12.00
Parking: Free
Length:

*= Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time will vary. Note: The time shown here represents the actual time spent moving forward through the attraction. Time spent waiting in queue lines, staging areas, intro scenes, rules rooms and when traffic jams cause patrons to come to a halt, has been subtracted.

LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of HauntedIllinois.com.
Scare Factor: Medium-High
Crowd Control: It seemed like they would space groups out pretty well at the beginning; but inside the house there was not much crowd control.
Groups move through the house at different speeds. There were several times that we did run into another group in front of us and we would let them exit a room before we would enter. There was another group that was came up behind us moving very fast that ended up staying with us through most of the event.
Actors did not seem to control the flow.

Midway of Madness Haunted Attraction / CU Scared, Urbana, Illinois. Crazy Clowns and Carnies are taking over at the Midway of Madness Haunted Attraction! Visit us for a terrifying. Here is a piano tutorial for Toad's Midway Madness from Mario Party 4! This is definitely one of my favorite pieces of video game music ever.

Summary:

Once you entered the house, you came up on a room that a man talked to you about the rules. You sat down on a bench and everything seems to go haywire!
Once leaving the rules room you enter into a dimly lit hallway with very detailed circus posters that look very vintage. This helps to set the tone on what you are walking into.
You want to know where circus folk live and sleep? You get to see it. You get to walk through a circus wagon caravan and they are waiting for you.
The house uses dark hallways very well with dimly lit to the very pitch black. The way they have them set up makes it where your eyes never have time to adjust to where you can see what is coming.
Wrong turn
Barn yard
One area that really stood out was what I would call Freak-Show Bunny. You walked up to a large rabbit on stage and then the lights went out. Next a young girl said 'Have you seen my bunny?' He will get you- there is no escape.
Walking into a highly decorated clown area you could see mostly props; but you knew something more was going to happen. Let's just say, they are going to get you. There is no escape!
I could smell the chainsaw, hear a chainsaw; but never saw a chainsaw. This might have been due to our group of 4 doubling in a hallway before exiting the house.
Midway of Madness has always done a real good job in set design and utilizing that design to get their scares.
The characters always remain in character from the time you enter their area to the time you leave the area. Even when they are resetting the room, they still remain in character. Some characters are in masks and others in make-up. All the characters fit the scenes very well.
Midway of Madness always does a great job on scares. You always get what you pay for with them. You want scares? You get them. The event incorporates static props with good old fashioned scares. My only complaint would be the patron flow. It is still very early in the season and there is time to improve on this. They have been one of my favorites in the past and I will always recommend a visit.
